Between October 15th – December 7th every year, seniors age 65 and over and enrolled in Medicare have the opportunity to:
- Change from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan
- Change from a Medicare Advantage Plan to Original Medicare or
- Switch from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another
If you are unsure as to what Advantage Plan is right for you, in Florida, you can contact SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) which is a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and your local Area Agency on Aging. They provide specially trained volunteers who can assist with answering questions related to Medicare and providing one-on-one counseling and information.

You can go online to request they contact you by clicking here or call them at 1-800-963-5337 to request an appointment with a SHINE volunteer. If you cannot locate one in your county (or it’s taking too long for them to get back to you), you can request an appointment with someone in an adjacent county. Also, visit SHINE’s website for community events going on in your county now through December 7th.
